What I did was design a 3d printable drill guide suitable for use with common in the US at any rate 1″ PVC egbeater pipe. In short, you give up very little and theory predicts an almost constant signal level from 15 degrees to directly overhead.
The drill guide is pretty simple. Not sure where you found the plans, as his original AOL site went away – however I had previously grabbed the pages and Jerry has authorized me to publish them on my server, so here is that link for future reference: Print the drill guide, scaling it to fit snugly over the plastic pipe you are using to make your antenna.
Re check your dimensions, for the 70cm eggbetaer, my loops are about 76 cm. At 5 degrees above the horizon, signals on FO start to come alive.
The real-world ground-based elevation patterns are also shown. This site will be missed. How is your testing going? There are no 3D prints in this construction. The TPM improved the coaxial gain of the eggbeater by re-shaping the loop into a square and moving the reflector closer to the driven element.

At 15 degrees, they are strong and clear–without a preamp AND with over 50′ of feedline. Mark a straight line along the length of your pipe.
The distance is not so critical and can be adjusted a small amount to get the SWR perfect. With the reflectors installed, test for SWR. I am currently unable to supply any more surplus cable, but eggbeatet could contact Dino, K6RIX, to see if he can provide you with a small amount.
Even without a fancy analyzer you can eggveater a fairly low power check at several frequencies across the band, and see where is the lowest SWR.
I did some testing with a rtl-sdr. To use it, Print the drill guide, scaling it to fit snugly over the plastic pipe you are using to make your antenna. Note the gain is almost the same at 45 degrees, but the new design is 6 dB better at 30 degrees and about 10 dB better at 15 degrees.
Login or register to post comments. I have been working on a uhf eggbeater antenna for about a week and cannot get the thing to tune worth squat. I have received good reports from several builders of this antenna.
It is, basically, just two full wave loops fed in quadrature. I got good copy on the bird eggbewter it reached about degrees elevation–compared to to degrees on my original eggbeater.
Slip the guide on your pipe and align the line on the top of the guide with the mark on your pipe. Also put a little part of the used plastics inside a microwave oven and if egtbeater plastics feel warm than you can not use it for the parts which have to be electrical isolated!

The 10′ sections of pipe are stored separately and assembled onto the antennas out in the yard. The RG will be 45 cm long plus 2. The “eggbeater” antenna is an omni-directional antenna employing circular polarization to maximize signal capture from low Earth orbit LEO satellites.
I used the plans posted by k50e and am at a loss as to what is causing it. The signals on AO are much harder to capture and the horizontal polarization at the horizon is a definite penalty. The signals stay strong and pick up about 3-to-6 dB of strength anttenna through 90 degrees. The rpi and the ftp cable have been ordered… Greetz, Joseph. It has been my workhorse LEO antenna ever since, eggbearer of course, it is a directional antenna. This 93 Ohm cable is not as commonly available as RG-8 or F.

egggbeater That is by design. Also at 70 cm the reception in FMN of some satelites was good. His prototype design, however, may be difficult for the average back yard mechanic a ham with two left thumbs to reproduce.
