Containers shall be sn as structural frames primary structurewith non-load bearing cladding where necessary secondary structure. The plate shall be fitted to a door, or, on containers with no doors, in a prominent position. Plates shall be made of corrosion resistant material securely attached externally in a manner designed to avoid unauthorized or accidental removal.
Other parts of the standard are: Preliminary welding procedure specifications shall form ba basis for the preparation of welding procedure tests. If a container is fitted with pockets that are only for empty handling, the container shall be marked according to 9.
Where a container is fitted with fork pockets designed for handling the container only when empty e. NOTE Consideration should be given to strength, durability, suitability, and possible hazards caused by use of these materials.
Pad eyes shall be so designed as to permit free movement of the shackle and sling termination without fouling the pad eye. Hinges shall be protected against damage from impact loads. The chemical composition shall be suitable for the thickness in question.
The examination shall be carried out in a situation providing sufficient lighting and other facilities necessary to allow the examination to bbs carried out safely and effectively.
Top protection shall be capable of being secured. Locking devices shall be secure against opening of the doors during transport and lifting. The report, signed by the inspector, shall be issued to the owner.
In addition, the side rails and end rails in the base shall be able to withstand vertical point forces of 0,25 Rg at the centre span.
For tank containers, the actual distribution of the tare mass shall be used for the calculations. NOTE These may be either pressurized tanks or non-pressurized containers for gravity discharge. NOTE 2 Type testing may not replace design review, but may in certain cases be a partial substitute for strength calculations.
BS EN 12079-1:2006
The reports shall distinguish clearly between accepted and rejected welds, and the number of repairs carried out to meet the specified acceptance standard shall be stated. The minimum internal dimensions of the forklift pockets shall be mm x 90 mm. The percentages specified in Table 7 shall apply to the total length of weld for the type of structural assembly in question. The impacting corner shall be the one expected to have the lowest rigidity. Em and aluminium alloys ISO Information on standards BSI provides a wide range of information on national, European and international standards through its Library and its Technical Help to Exporters 12079-11.
NOTE 1 Details of the examination of the lifting set may also be 1207-1 on the inspection report for the container.
The calculated static equivalent stresses due to impact shall be combined with the lifting stresses resulting from static lifting forces Rg. The marking shall be carried out in such a way as to avoid incorrect interpretation e.
ENSpecification and approval of welding procedures for metallic materials — Part 3: NOTE Not all container walls are corrugated. Except as permitted mider the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act no extract may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system or transmitted in any form or by any means – electronic, photocopying, recording or otherwise – without prior written permission from BSI.
Test temperatures and test results shall comply with the requirements given in 6. A tank and its support shall be able to withstand lifting and impact loads. ENQualification test of welders — Fusion welding — Part 1: If permission is granted, the terms may include royalty payments or a licensing agreement. Contact the Information Centre. Use of other alloys or tempers shall be subject to special consideration. For dated references, subsequent amendments to or revisions of any of these publications apply to this European Standard only when incorporated in it by amendment or revision.
NOTE For containers with exposed aluminium, the danger of sparks caused by the impact of aluminium against corroded steel the thermite reaction should be taken into account.
Protruding parts doors handles, hatch cleats, etc. However, maximum concentrated stresses at the hole edges shall be below proof stress, R cat design load.

The chemical composition shall be in accordance with that set out in Table 2 and mechanical properties shall be in accordance with Table 3. Evaluation of welded joints in steel, nickel, titanium and their alloys by radiography – Acceptance levels ENArc-welded joints in aluminium and its weldable alloys – Guidance on quality levels for imperfections ISO In addition due account shall be 1209-1 of fluid surge arising from partly filled tanks.
Visual inspection shall be performed as described in EN NOTE 2 Hinge type lashing points are preferred. Test temperatures shall 1279-1 as given in Table 1. However, offshore containers that fall within the definition of a container in the CSC, and which are used internationally for transport of cargo, must also be certified to that convention.
C Inspection certificate bw. This part of EN specifies only transport related requirements. NOTE The inspection body may require other or additional tests and examinations. Any such part extending to within mm of the vs of the framework, shall be protected by beams or plating.
Doors shall be capable of being secured in the open position. Only materials with non-ageing properties shall be used. In addition to the pad eyes for the lifting set, these containers may have side mounted lugs suitable for use with 1079-1 lifting equipment mounted on a skip lift vehicle.
The repairer shall ensure the quality of these procedures and facilities by a certified quality assurance system at least in accordance with EN ISO
